Over the holidays, I received some thoughtful gifts from my clients. Of these, the little box below made its mark. My clients know I will take all the time necessary to see them through their questions, hesitations, and uncertainties; I do my best to offer genuine counsel. After a rather extended discussion involving no small amount of uncertainty, I received this little box...along with a box of top-notch toffee and, most importantly, a warm sense of humor.
In the end, we do well only if we offer each other gifts beyond the limited and mundane transactions of life.
Even when their expression is as mundane as a box of Aleve, they signify something immeasurable; they speak to the greater economy, the economy that circulates everywhere and in everything, the economy of gifts, the call of the good; always touching, never grasping...bringing us great joy!
