The 2007 Acura TL brake system is a Dual-diagonal, power-assisted system. It has 4-wheel discs with a 4-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist. 'Dual-diagonal' means that the left front and right rear are on the same line, as are the right front and left rear. This gives it enhanced performance and safety. Electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD) is a technology that automatically varies the amount of force applied to each of a vehicle's brakes, based on road conditions, speed, loading, etc. EBD can apply more or less braking pressure to each wheel in order to maximize stopping power.
Regular TL: The front discs are ventilated, 11.8 in (300 mm) diameter; 1.1 in (28 mm) rotor thickness. The rear discs are Solid, 11.1 in (282 mm) diameter; and 0.35 in (9 mm) rotor thickness. It has single piston brake calipers.
The Type S comes with ventilated Brembo front discs, 12.2 in (310 mm) diameter, 0.98 in (25 mm) rotor thickness. The calipers are Brembo 4-piston in the front and single piston in the rear.
